Trafficking in the United States? Oh, yes. Trafficking in Indiana? Definitely. Trafficking in Hancock county? Yes. ... Those things are heartbreaking and gut-wrenching, especially when you learn the dark details, but they are true. It's too true. Indifference and apathy are something that we as people (or at least myself) slip into very easily. But that's no excuse... it can't be an excuse. Because if I was her, if I was him, I'd want me to do something. I'd beg and cry and plead for me to do something. For you to do something. So won't you join us? Won't you please join us in doing something? Come Walk/Run with us this Saturday, and stand against the selling of children in our city, state, nation, and world. Be aware. Please, be aware. Keep your eyes open for signs of trafficking children and women around you, and don't hesitate to call for help for them. You may be their only way out.
From an IndyStar online article: (see link below) A woman forced to sign a sex-slave contract by a husband who tortured her. A teen goaded into prostitution by a boyfriend who beat her if she didn't cooperate. A woman abducted from the streets, tethered and caged by a man who made her his sex slave. A woman in an arranged marriage held against her will by a husband who solicited men to pay for sex with her. These startling examples of exploitation sound like stories from the international sex trade, drawn perhaps from the slums of the developing world. In fact, they are cases from Indiana — two brought to light only last week, two others just making their way into Indiana courtrooms. Come help us raise awareness and fight against this epidemic! Register online today, and we hope to see you on Saturday!
